Each issue has a section which focuses on a major subject area. The articles in this are selected so as to review important recent developments and to describe the best current practice. The journal runs a repeating 4-year cycle during which the majority of all of the sub-specialties of anaesthesia and critical care will be visited. In addition to this major point of focus, each issue contains a selection of articles on other important topics from among the following subjects: medicine, monitoring, pharmacology, practical procedures, controversies, education, history, equipment, physics and monitoring. Authors are selected from international sources and are appropriate authorities on these subjects. Each issue also includes a Continuing Medical Education and Self-Assessment Section. This section contains multiple choice questions which are based on the content of that issues articles together with short answer questions and clinical scenarios for discussion. The answers and a commentary are included for each.
