Description:

The Journal of College Student Psychotherapy is dedicated to enhancing the lives of college and university students by featuring high-quality articles about practice, theory, and research in mental health and personal development. Contributions to the journal come from professionals in the field of mental health and counseling and from college staff, faculty, and students. The journal is written specifically for college and university administrative staff and faculty as well as counselors and mental health professionals. Regular quarterly issues of the journal feature articles of central interest to psychotherapists and counselors while also expressing broader implications for everyone who wishes to understand students. Issues focus on important developments in individual and group psychotherapy with students, the knowledge that is generated by these approaches, and the significance that this knowledge may have for institutions of higher learning. The journal covers such topics as: emergency and brief interventions, short-term counseling and psychotherapy, ethics and confidentiality, referrals, research on personal development during the college years, psychotherapeutic approaches to eating, sleeping, sexual, and academic problems. Special thematic issues of the journal have covered such topics as prevention of college student suicide, psychosomatic disorders in the college age group, psychological and social concerns of the minority student, male and female identity and support, and information for parents about college students problems.
